Hello! My name is Gaby and I'm a seeker and adventurer, living life to it's fullest. I'm located in the heart of northern Vermont where I regularly teach yoga and offer bodywork. I thrive on fresh air and connecting with people!
I tried yoga throughout my childhood and teenage years, but it didn't stick until needing asana to relieve tight, sore muscles from snowboarding. I began attending free hatha classes at college. I carried years of physical, mental, & emotional tension in my body so when I began practicing regularly, I started to experience releases of lifelong stress. There were powerful shifts in my frame of mind and approach to life, leading me to dive directly into the healing practice of yoga at an early age.
I served seva (selfless service/volunteer) at Kripalu Center for Health and Yoga and the Sri Swami Satchidananda Ashram, also known as Yogaville. These experiences taught me to integrate yoga into daily life and not just with asana (poses). The intensity and depth of living, experienced in these yoga centers, impacts my teaching style in a way that allows me to make yoga accessible and welcoming to all ages, abilities, body types, and people in general. I began my yoga teaching journey with friends and fellow youth at Unitarian Universalist conferences.
Many years ago, I was hanging upside down in kapotasana (pigeon pose) with my body wrapped in aerial silk, thanks to Carrie Tyler of Rasamaya yoga. The silk was draped over a strong branch of an old growth pine on the coast of Maine, in the midst of a glorious summer day! The lightness and freedom I experienced during these moments of suspension led me to make a commitment to yoga training where Carrie initially studied, Yoga Vermont.
I've been teaching yoga since 2008. I offer gentle to moderate classes, restorative, yin, pranayama, mantra, and meditation. I also teach Yoga for a Healthy Body & Self Image which offers modifications and methods for students with big bodies, bodies in pain, people who face eating disorders or disordered eating, body/self-image issues, or who are part of the LGBTQIA+ community looking for a welcoming place to practice. This series is inclusive, attracting all body types, genders, ages, and abilities. It's a supportive space for all to explore within. My teaching style is welcoming, accessible, and whole-hearted. I teach beyond asana - you can expect pranayama, mantra/chanting, meditation, light philosophy, and some laughter.
Yoga has taught me that every moment we have a choice. There is an opportunity to choose to practice, to create change, to breathe and open towards our deepest sense of Self, to open to the infinite possibility that exists within each moment. I will challenge you to look within, at all aspects of yourself. I will guide you to tap into your strength and inherent power. Regular yoga and meditation practice reveals your potential and has the power to transform you and your life.
